Gum Benzoin Benzoin is the dried milky juice of the Lithocarpus Benzoin, a tree indigenous to Thailand and the Indian Archipelago. It arrives in reddish-yellow lumps, the whitest being the best. |

Gum Mastic Gum Mastic is the resin of the Pistacia Lentiscus, from which it oozes in pale yellow tears. If not collected in time, it falls to the ground and becomes impure. Mastic is the most tender and wearable of all resins. It is found on the island of Chios in Greece. |

Gum Sandarak True Sandarac is the pure gum of the common juniper tree, and appears in the form of long yellowish dusty tears. The best comes from Morocco. |

Button Lac Gum Lac is the product of an insect (The Coccus Lacca). It lives on the twigs of various trees, which it gradually covers with a resinous coating. This coating contains their dead bodies, eggs, and a purple colouring matter which they secrete. The eggs germinate inside the resinous covering drawn from the trees by the parent insect. The insects eat their way through and continue to build up the coating of resin (or gum Lac). It comes principally from South-Eastern Asia. |
